Using the Hive Builder

Modified on Fri, 30 Sep, 2022 at 4:15 PM

  1. You can access the ‘Hive Builder’ in two ways. The first is to select ‘Add Hives’ and then choose ‘Create New’. You will then be presented with the ‘Hive Builder’ screen that allows you to build any vertically stacking hive type, for example, a National, WBC and Langstroth to name a few.
  2. On the left hand side of the builder canvas, is the hive component menu. This contains a list of common hive components, enabling you to create simple visual representations of your actual hives. Start by simply clicking the component that you need. This could be a floor, followed by a brood box or deep, or a brood box followed by a floor. It doesn’t matter which components you click first, the system will automatically place components in the normal positions within the high stack.
  3. You can remove components from the hive canvas, simply by clicking the close icon next to the component you want to remove.
  4. To create a complete hive, simply add all of the components that you need into the hive stack.
  5. To move the components up and down within the high stack, use the drag control next to each component and move them to the new position.
  6. When you are happy that the hive is built correctly, enter your hive details in the hive form at the bottom of the screen and then save the hive or hives.
  7. The second way to access the ‘Hive Builder’ is by editing an existing hive through the edit hive screen.
